1:32 GBU-31 (V) 4/B Thermally Protected Bombs U.S. Navy (2pcs) is a pair of 3D-printed guided bombs for modern American carrier aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set of two 3D-printed guided bombs in 1:32 scale. It is not an aircraft model but external stores to go with one. The (V) 4/B designation belongs to the naval version with a thermally protected casing, which was adapted for service on the deck of an aircraft carrier, where fire and high temperatures are a risk. The manufacturer intends the set for modern carrier aircraft.
The GBU-31 is a heavy guided bomb created by fitting a guidance kit with controlled surfaces at the tail onto a conventional unguided bomb. The bomb then corrects its own path and lands markedly more accurately than a free-fall weapon. The naval variant also has a heat-resistant casing, because ordnance stored on deck is exposed to a risk that does not arise to the same degree at a land base.
Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand down the rest; do not break them off. The printed material is hard and brittle, so work without pressure. It is bonded with super glue. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and apply a base coat. On modern ordnance the most visible features are the colored bands on the body, which come out best from masking tape or from thin decals.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
