The Henschel Hs 129 B-3 1:32 from the Japanese manufacturer Zoukei-Mura - a large plastic kit of the SWS line of the anti-tank ground-attack aircraft with the giant 75 mm BK 7.5 cannon, an armored cockpit and a full internal structure.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:32 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Zoukei-Mura from its premium SWS line. The manufacturer states 443 parts, two-color molding (gray and clear plastic) and one decal sheet. Zoukei-Mura builds its kits on the principle that a model is put together like a real aircraft: in the box there is the armored bathtub of the cockpit, a complete interior, both Gnome-Rhône 14M engines, the structure of the fuselage and the wings and the whole armament - including the mechanism of the big cannon. That is enormous value, but also a considerable demand on time and experience; it is not a weekend kit and definitely not one for beginners. Many modelers therefore build SWS kits with open panels so that the inside stays visible. Photo-etched parts, metal barrels, resin tires and a pilot figure are separate accessories from this manufacturer, not the contents of the basic box.
The Henschel Hs 129 was a German specialized ground-attack and anti-tank aircraft. The pilot sat literally in an armored bathtub with very thick bulletproof glass at the front - the protection was excellent, but the cockpit was extremely cramped: some of the instruments had to be placed outside the cockpit, on the inner walls of the engine nacelles. Power came from French Gnome-Rhône 14M radial engines, of which there were plenty in occupied Europe, but there was little power to spare.
The B-3 version is the most significant of the whole series: it carried the giant 75 mm BK 7.5 cannon derived from the PaK 40 anti-tank gun, slung under the fuselage, with a drum magazine and automatic loading. It is among the largest cannons ever carried by an aircraft. The weapon weighed hundreds of kilograms and it noticeably slowed the aircraft down and made it heavier - but its effect against tanks was devastating. The cannon is precisely the main feature that sets the B-3 apart from the B-1 and B-2 versions.
Work in assemblies: the armored bathtub and the interior, the engines, and only then close the fuselage - paint the inside and bring it out with a wash before it disappears. Bond with liquid cement for plastic and keep testing dry. In 1:32 every detail shows, so use a primer and an airbrush. The Hs 129 is rewarding to weather: the dust of the Eastern Front, oil streaks on the nacelles, chipped leading edges. Leave the cannon until the end so that it does not break off during handling.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
