An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary American Curtiss P-40E Warhawk fighter in the large 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The sizable model offers a detailed cockpit, finely suggested riveting, photo-etched parts and rubber tires.
The Curtiss P-40 was a single-engined all-metal fighter and ground-attack aircraft that first flew in 1938. The P-40E version was powered by the liquid-cooled Allison V-1710 V12 and carried heavier machine gun armament in the wings. The Warhawk served in the Second World War with a number of Allied air forces on most fronts and became famous, among other things, for the shark mouths on the nose worn by the machines of the Flying Tigers. It was a sturdy and durable machine, suitable for attacks on ground targets as well.
In the large 1:32 scale the cockpit interior comes into its own, so finish and paint it before closing the fuselage. Cover the glazing with a mask, apply primer and spray thin coats with an airbrush. The large area of the wings and the fuselage is ideal for washes and pigments to suggest wear and flown-in panels. Roughen the rubber tires slightly before gluing so that the paint holds better.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
