A plastic kit of the American naval jet trainer North American T-2 Buckeye in the large 1:32 scale, on the theme of camouflaged trainers. The model will please admirers of postwar carrier aviation and collectors of unconventional color schemes alike.
The T-2 Buckeye was a naval jet trainer of the US Navy. It first flew in 1958 and entered service in 1959. It served as a carrier trainer with tandem crew seating and nose landing gear. The later T-2C variant was powered by a pair of General Electric J85 engines. Outside the United States the type was also operated by Greece (T-2E) and Venezuela (T-2D), whose machines became the basis for the attractive camouflaged schemes of this kit theme.
In 1:32 scale it is worth working the cockpit and the nose landing gear up carefully. Dry-fit the parts first, use liquid plastic cement and sand the fuselage seams gently. The camouflaged schemes of the Greek and Venezuelan machines call for precise masking of the color transitions; use a quality masking tape and misted airbrush coats. Outline the canopy and accentuate the panel lines with a wash. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
