Injection-molded plastic kit Trumpeter 1:32 TBD-1 Devastator, the American carrier-based torpedo bomber from the beginning of the war in the Pacific.
Responsibility details are not available.
A large injection-molded plastic kit of the Douglas TBD-1 Devastator carrier-based torpedo bomber in the impressive 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The modern mold offers a detailed cockpit, engine and landing gear bays, clear glazing and photo-etched parts for the fine detail.
At the end of the 1930s the TBD Devastator was one of the first all-metal carrier aircraft of the US Navy with retractable landing gear. It carried a torpedo or bombs and took off from the decks of aircraft carriers. It became most sadly famous in the Battle of Midway in 1942, where the torpedo squadrons armed with Devastators suffered heavy losses; soon afterwards the type was withdrawn from the front line.
Finish and paint the richly broken-down cockpit and the internal structure before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing of the long canopy so that the frames stay sharp. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Fit the torpedo and the external stores at the end; the large wing surfaces are best sprayed with an airbrush over filler primer, with a gloss coat under the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
