Italeri Tornado IDS 1:32 is a sizable injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat combat aircraft with variable-geometry wings.
Responsibility details are not available.
A large-format plastic kit of the Panavia Tornado strike aircraft in the IDS version. This 1:32 model from the Italian manufacturer Italeri combines injection-molded plastic parts with a photo-etched fret for the fine detail. The package offers movable variable-geometry wings, a detailed powerplant, rubber tires and decal sheets for several finishes.
The Tornado IDS (Interdictor/Strike) is a two-seat combat aircraft developed by the international Panavia consortium for Great Britain, what was then West Germany and Italy. It was powered by two Turbo-Union RB199 turbofan engines, and its characteristic feature is the swing wing, which is adjusted in flight from maximum span for takeoff and slow flight to full sweep for a fast run at low altitude. It served above all for precise strikes on ground targets and for penetration over enemy territory.
Given its size and complexity, this is a build for more experienced modelers. We recommend thin cement for plastic, careful cleaning up of the parting seams and spraying a primer base before painting. It is advisable to finish the cockpit, the wheel bays and the powerplant and to bring them out with a dark wash before the fuselage is closed. Camouflage schemes are best applied with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
