This is a resin detail set from the maker Meng in 1:35 scale which adds the AGDUS laser training system to a model of the Leopard 2A4 tank. It is not a model of a tank but an accessory: the set holds a laser transmitter at the muzzle of the gun barrel, sensors distributed around the vehicle and a control unit on the turret. The parts faithfully reproduce the equipment a tank carries during exercises.
AGDUS is a laser simulation system for combat training which the German army uses. During an exercise it replaces live fire with a laser beam and evaluates the hits by means of an array of sensors, similarly to comparable Western systems. On the Leopard 2A4 the characteristic transmitter by the gun barrel and a row of detectors on the turret and the hull are therefore visible.
First wash the parts free of any mold release residue and separate them carefully from the casting blocks. Glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and protect your respiratory tract when sanding. The device tends to be in a contrasting color to the vehicle, so it comes out after careful priming and fine highlighting of the details.
This is a supplementary resin set, not a model of a tank. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
