1:35 Avro 671 Rota Mk.I RAF, a MiniArt plastic kit of the British military autogyro, a Cierva C.30 built under license, in Royal Air Force service, in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit from the manufacturer MiniArt in 1:35 scale captures the Avro 671 Rota Mk.I, a British military autogyro, that is, an aircraft with an unpowered main rotor, which the Royal Air Force used in the 1930s and during the Second World War. The unusual subject and the large scale make the model a striking piece for a display case as well as an excellent basis for a diorama with 1:35 figures and airfield equipment.
The Rota Mk.I was the military version of the successful Cierva C.30 autogyro, which the British firm Avro built under license. The main rotor was not turned by the engine in flight but by autorotation; forward thrust was provided by a conventional propeller. Thanks to that, the autogyro could fly very slowly and take off from minimal strips. The Royal Air Force used the machines among other things for liaison duties and, during the war, for calibrating coastal radar stations.
Proceed as with an ordinary plastic kit: thin cement for plastic, a dry fit before gluing and thin coats of paint. The fine structure of the rotor and the struts deserves attention: glue the parts onto fully cured subassemblies and balance the rotor, so that the model looks natural. The cockpit comes out well with a fine dry brush and a dark wash in the fuselage structure.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
