The BM-13 Katyusha was a Soviet multiple rocket launcher that became one of the best-known weapon systems of the Second World War. The launcher was mounted on a truck chassis and fired a salvo of unguided 132 mm rockets at area targets. The devastating salvo covered a large area within seconds and had a strong psychological as well as physical effect. The launcher stood out for its mobility: after firing a salvo it could quickly change position and escape counter-fire. The nickname Katyusha was given to it by the soldiers themselves.
The key is a clean build of the launch frame and accurate seating of the guide rails; it pays to align them against the template in the instructions. Assemble and paint the chassis and the cab before you fit the superstructure. Pick out the rockets and the rails with dry-brushing, and bring the bodywork to life with dark washes in the gaps and dust pigments on the fenders and the chassis for a convincing front-line look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
