Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet BM-8-24 rocket launcher on the chassis of a light truck of 1.5 ton payload in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. The model offers rich detail including a well worked-out engine bay and makes it possible to build the vehicle in travel and in firing position.
The BM-8-24 belongs to the family of Soviet salvo rocket launchers nicknamed Katyusha. It carries a set of rails for twenty-four unguided 82 mm rockets and an artillery section that was moved onto ordinary trucks of 1.5 ton payload once production of the light tank ended. The system served for rapid area fire in the Second World War; its strength lay in a mass salvo that covered the target within seconds, not in the accuracy of a single rocket. The light automotive chassis provided mobility and a quick change of position after firing.
The model has a great many small parts and a detailed engine interior, so work patiently and finish the running gear and the drivetrain before you close the hood. The rockets can usually be stowed in crates or fitted directly on the rails. For a faithful look use a matte Soviet green, metallic tones on the rails and the rockets, and at the end add dust, mud and worn paint with washes and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
