A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet armored mine clearing vehicle BMR-1 in the late version (Late Mod.) complemented by the KMT-7 mine clearing equipment, in 1:35 scale from the firm MiniArt. The kit follows the habits of the brand: it contains a generous number of plastic parts, photo-etched parts, clear plastic and decals. As with a number of MiniArt models you can count on a well-worked rendering of the hull and the mine clearing gear.
The BMR-1 is a Soviet armored mine clearing vehicle built on the chassis of a medium tank. It served to breach lanes through minefields using the attached KMT-7 equipment (a combination of mine rollers and a plow), which detonates or plows up mines ahead of the vehicle. Equipment of this type was widespread in the armies of the Soviet bloc and in altered form can be met in conflicts from the 1970s to present-day fighting. The late modification (Late Mod.) differs in details of the equipment from the early machines.
First assemble and paint the running gear and any hull interior, and only then close up the hull. Glue the photo-etched parts with super glue and the plastic with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a primer and spray with an airbrush in Soviet green. The mine rollers and the KMT-7 plow are extremely stressed in use, so they come out well with pronounced patina: washes in the recesses, chipped metal on the edges and heavy dust and mud pigments on the underside of the vehicle and on the equipment.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
