An injection-molded kit of the modern Chinese armored personnel carrier from the 6x6 wheeled family. The mold captures the sloped armor walls of the hull, three axles with independent suspension, separate hatches and the external stowage of the vehicle. The characteristic feature of this particular variant is an open gunner's position with a shield, not a closed turret.
The family of wheeled armored vehicles developed by the Chinese arms maker NORINCO came about as a universal basis for the rapid reaction units of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The variant designated ZSL-92A is a carrier, that is a vehicle meant to move an infantry section under armor. It differs from the infantry fighting vehicle of the same family above all in its armament: instead of a turret with a 25 mm automatic cannon it carries a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun protected by a shield. Its lower combat weight gives it better handling. The vehicle is amphibious and serves alongside the other members of the same series.
Finish the wheels and the wheel arches before you close the hull up, and fit the tires only after spraying so that the edge of the rim stays sharp. Mask the vision blocks and the windscreen in advance. Chinese schemes can be single-color or broken; with both approaches it pays to lighten the base shade on the horizontal surfaces and to darken the depths with a wash. Lay the dust on with pigments from below, most strongly behind the wheels and along the lower edge of the hull.
