1:35 Civilian Fuel Drums is a set of Vallejo civilian fuel drums in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit but a scenic accessory for dioramas outside purely military subjects.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set belongs among diorama props, not among models of hardware. It differs from the military variants in purpose: civilian drums suit workshops, garages, filling stations, farms and building sites, that is scenes in which military markings make no sense. That is exactly where their value lies — a civilian scene in 1:35 scale has markedly fewer accessories on the market than a military one.
The drums bring the back area of a repair workshop, the corner of a yard or the space by the doors of a store to life. They also work well in mixed scenes in which a military vehicle stands in a civilian setting — the contrast between the hardware and ordinary working equipment is part of what gives a diorama a story. They can be used across periods, from the interwar era to the present day.
Civilian drums will take colors you cannot allow yourself on military ones: blue, green, red and dirty white. Apply the more saturated shades over a light base, otherwise they will look dark and dead. You create fading by adding a little white to the base color and lightly oversprayed the upper surfaces. Suggest the remains of old lettering with a dry print of paint over a coarser texture, but leave particular company logos to decals, which are made for it.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a model of a vehicle or figures. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
