The Meng D9R Armored Bulldozer 1:35, a plastic kit of the armored bulldozer, captures the armored engineer machine built on the basis of the Caterpillar D9. Note: it is not a tank but an armored construction machine with a blade and a ripper, committed by the Israeli army.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the D9R armored bulldozer in 1:35 scale from Meng. It is not a tank but an armored engineer construction machine derived from the heavy Caterpillar D9 bulldozer, fitted with protective armor for the cab and the engine bay. The model stands out for its movable blade and rear ripper, metal rods for the hydraulic cylinders for a realistic look, a well-worked cab interior and workable (movable) track links. Photo-etched parts and schemes of Israeli service are included.
The D9R is a heavy tracked Caterpillar bulldozer that the Israeli army adapted for engineer and combat tasks by adding armor protecting the crew and the key parts of the machine. In service it is used to remove obstacles, to build and demolish embankments, for engineer work and for mine clearing in threatened areas. Thanks to its massive blade and its weight, the machine can work even under fire, where ordinary construction equipment would not stand up. It is nicknamed after its Hebrew designation and ranks among the heaviest machines of its kind in the field.
As with all tracked equipment, assemble and paint the running gear and the cab interior before you close the armored covers, because later there will be no access to them. The workable tracks call for patience. Leave the metal hydraulic rods in their natural metal tone, or weather them gently. Lay the base on with an airbrush, and use thin cement on the plastic. With a construction machine the working weathering is what counts: what dominates the look of its work is construction dust and earth, so apply light pigments to the blade, the ripper and the underside of the machine, rub the cutting edge of the blade back to bright metal (a worn working edge) and use washes to bring out the rivets and the gaps in the armor. That is what will set the model apart from an ordinary tank.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
