This item is not a model of a vehicle. It is a set of props in 1:35 scale capturing German fuel drums of the Second World War period. Drums are among the most rewarding diorama accessories of all: they take up little room, give a scene a story and at the same time serve as an excellent practice object for weathering techniques. The number of pieces in the package is stated on the packaging of the set.
The drums work as part of a supply scene beside a vehicle, as a filler for the cargo deck of a truck, as an improvised seat for a figure or as a small piece of staging in the corner of a vignette. In 1:35 scale they are big enough for the work on them to show, but small enough to fit even a miniature scene.
A drum is an ideal surface for the chipping technique. First apply a rusty base, over it a layer that can be disturbed in a controlled way, and only then the final shade; with a damp brush you then break the paint up on the edges and around the bung. Vertical rust streaks below the top rim follow, then a dark wash into the pressings and finally dust on the lower third. Do not overdo it — a drum that is rusty all over looks more like a wreck than a piece of working equipment.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a model of a vehicle or figures. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
