A turned metal rod antenna 1.4 m long for the Fu 7 radio set in 1:35 scale from MASTER replaces the coarse plastic part. The package holds one piece.

A small turned metal accessory for models of German equipment of the Second World War. It replaces the antenna rod, which tends to be one of the worst parts in a kit, because plastic in such a thin section cannot be molded either straight or finely enough. The package holds one piece. The subject is the short 1.4 m rod belonging to the Fu 7 radio set, which works out at roughly four centimeters in 1:35 scale.
The metal rod is straight, true to its axis and has a smooth taper toward the tip that a plastic molding never has. Above all, though, it will take handling. A plastic antenna bends as soon as the model is lifted out of the box, and every further move risks snapping it off. A metal part keeps its shape and looks the same after several years on a shelf. The difference shows mainly because an antenna is seen against the background, and its thickness is the only thing the eye judges.
Cut the plastic rod off as close to the base as possible and sand the remainder away. Drill a hole at the mounting point with a fine bit to match the foot of the part, so that the rod has support and does not rest on contact alone. Glue it with super glue; where the gap is larger, a thicker gel type or a two-part epoxy is better, as it gives time to set the rod upright. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and use a primer meant for metal, otherwise paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Instead of an opaque paint, blackening or a dark glaze looks better on an antenna, because it keeps the part looking fine. Clean the model with a brush carefully afterwards and never push toward the rod.
This is an accessory for a plastic model, not a kit. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
