An injection-molded plastic model of the British Standard N wheeled utility tractor in the Orange version (Mod. 1939) in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. It is a finely worked kit with a detailed engine and chassis and with photo-etched parts. The box holds decals for several color options. The exact number of parts and schemes is not stated here, because it has not been verified.
The Standard N was a British general-purpose wheeled tractor of the late 1930s, liked for its simple and dependable mechanicals. It served as an all-round work machine in farming and in industry, and once the Second World War broke out it was put to military use as well, towing trailers, generators and ammunition carts for the Allied forces. It is exactly this double role that makes it a rewarding subject for civilian and for period military scenes alike.
With machinery that has an exposed chassis it pays to assemble and paint the engine, the transmission and the frame before the wheels and the bodywork go on, because the places that are harder to reach are then easier to paint and weather. Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay down a primer before painting and airbrush the paint in thin coats. Strong weathering comes from dark washes in the recesses and from pigments for dust and mud effects on the wheels and the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
