The Leopard 2A6 is one of the upgrade steps of the German Leopard 2 main battle tank. The most conspicuous change is the longer gun: the caliber stayed at 120 millimeters and the bore smooth, but the barrel is 55 calibers long instead of the earlier 44, which shows on the silhouette of the vehicle as well. The front of the turret is covered by wedge-shaped add-on armor, thanks to which the turret has its characteristic arrowhead outline. The vehicle is powered by a turbocharged diesel engine. The Leopard 2 is one of the most widespread Western tanks and besides the German army a number of other users have adopted it.
According to the name it is the version with a full interior, so the model allows for the internal fittings of the hull and the turret. It is a kit in 1:35 scale to be glued and painted; the range of parts and the choice of marking variants are given in the maker's instructions.
With sets that have an interior it pays to work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the inside before you close the hull and the turret, and keep dry-fitting to check that everything fits. Think in advance about which hatches you will leave open, because the interior will be visible only through them. Clean the parts of excess material and of marks left by production, wash and degrease the surface before painting and apply the paint in thin coats.
A set with an interior takes more time than an ordinary kit and rewards you with a view inside the vehicle, so it suits a modeler who already has something behind them. Paints, thinner, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
