Plastic kit of the German Leopard 2A6 main battle tank in 1:35 scale, released as a limited edition. You can recognize the 2A6 version by the longer barrel and the wedge-shaped armor add-ons on the turret.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Leopard 2 is among the most widespread Western main battle tanks and serves in the armies of a number of European states. The 2A6 version is one of the later forms of the machine: it follows on from the modernization that gave the tank wedge-shaped armor add-ons on the front of the turret and adds a gun with a longer barrel. The crew consists of four men, that is the commander, the gunner, the loader and the driver.
The main weapon is a 120 mm smoothbore gun, on the 2A6 version with a barrel 55 calibers long. The figure L/55 therefore does not speak of the caliber but of the length of the barrel, and it is the most conspicuous difference from the older machines with a shorter barrel. The sloped add-ons on the front of the turret, which change the shape of its front into a wedge, are characteristic as well.
Before gluing, free the parts of excess material and production marks, sand the mating surfaces and dry-fit the assembly. The running gear with the tracks takes the most work and is worth spraying off the model. Wash and degrease the whole model before painting. Modern European schemes rest on large fields of color, so it pays to mask the transitions with tape or to spray them freehand according to the reference in the instructions.
The kit will please modelers of modern vehicles and anyone building contemporary European equipment. The angular shapes and the large turret leave room for practicing sharp camouflage transitions and fine emphasis of the edges.
Paints, glue, filler and add-on sets are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
