1:35 M26A1 Pershing Heavy Tank is a plastic kit of the postwar version of the American Pershing tank in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss.

The injection-molded kit captures the later, upgraded form of the Pershing, which even a layman can tell from the basic version by the barrel: it carries a fume extractor and a muzzle brake. The tooling offers a richly shaped cast turret, a welded hull with torsion bar suspension and a well worked out engine compartment with a hatch that can be built open or closed.
The Pershing came about as an answer to the German heavy tanks and reached the units in Europe only in the very last stage of the Second World War, when it went into action in limited numbers only. The main weapon was a 90 mm gun, in the M26A1 version in the M3A1 form with a fume extractor. While the original classification read heavy tank, postwar practice listed it as a medium. It went through its real trial by fire only in Korea, where it proved itself against the T-34/85, yet it was troubled by its weight and an underpowered drivetrain. It was from the Pershing that the M46 Patton then grew.
Finish the running gear and the inside of the engine compartment before you close the hull up. The cast surface of the turret deserves a fine texture, which can be created with thin filler stippled on with a stiff brush, but do it carefully so that the details do not disappear. Olive green looks more three-dimensional if you lighten it on the upper surfaces and darken the recesses with a wash. Rub the walkways, the hatches and the area around the barrel with graphite or a dark metallic shade.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
