Plastic kit of the American M3A5 Lee medium tank in 1:35 scale from MiniArt, a maker known for richly detailed models of armored vehicles and for a wide range of M3 tank variants.
The M3 medium tank came about at the start of the Second World War as a quick answer to the need for a vehicle with a 75 mm gun. Because no turret for so powerful a weapon was available, the gun was mounted in the right-hand sponson of the hull and complemented by a rotating turret with a 37 mm gun, hence the unmistakable tall silhouette. The M3A5 variant was marked by a welded hull and power from a pair of diesel engines; a considerable part of production went to Great Britain and the Soviet Union under aid to the Allies. Despite its limitations the M3 played an important part in North Africa and on the Eastern Front before the M4 Sherman replaced it.
Finish and paint the running gear and the tracks before you assemble the upper hull. Olive green is the basis of the finish, and protective green on the Soviet machines; the articulated hull positively invites fine filters, washes into the recessed joints and dust pigments on the running gear. A light dry brush brings the riveted and welded surfaces nicely to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
