A tank that puts the crew first

The Israeli school of design grew out of hard experience: a machine can be repaired, a man cannot. That is why the engine of the Merkava sits at the front, why the rear is a through passage and why the vehicle has an internal layout under the armor that makes it possible to carry the wounded away. The fourth generation added a new turret and a range of electronic systems to that, but the basic idea remained untouched. In a town, where tanks spend most of their real service, the outcome is often decided not by the main gun but precisely by the small arms on the hatches.

In the package there are two machine guns designated as version one and two mounts on which the weapon rests and turns. The shape of the base is cut for the kit of the HobbyBoss brand, so once the original plastic part has been removed the new assembly seats without packing.

A casting without ejector marks

Every injection-molded part has circles left by the ejector pins on it, because otherwise it could not be got out of the machine. On a small weapon they often fall exactly where the surface of the receiver should be smooth. A cast and printed part does not have this problem at all: it comes out of the mold without being pushed out mechanically, so the surface stays clean. Added to that is the ability to hold shapes that are undercut from one side, for example the frame of the gun sights or the carrying handle.

With small parts it is better to cut the sprue gate away with a scalpel than with nippers. A more brittle material can break off further along than you intended under the pressure of the pliers.
