Voyager Model 1:35 photo-etch for the Leopard 2A6, basic set

An accessory for modelers of military vehicles in 1:35 scale from Voyager Model. It is not a kit: it is a set of photo-etched metal parts marked as basic, that is one covering the main visible elements rather than a complete rework. The set is cut for one particular Leopard 2A6 kit, which has to be bought separately. The photo-etch shows up most on the fenders, the grilles and the handles, where a plastic part never has the right thickness.

The real subject

The Leopard 2A6 is the version of the German main battle tank with a lengthened gun of 120 millimeter caliber, 55 calibers long, which has a higher muzzle velocity than the earlier renderings. You recognize it precisely by the longer barrel and by the wedge-shaped add-on armor on the turret. The tank serves with the German army and with a number of other users and is among the most widespread modern types in Europe.

Use

• cut the parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface; do not break them out
• make the bends over a metal ruler or in a photo-etch bender
• glue with super glue applied with the tip of a wire, not straight from the bottle
• degrease the metal before painting and give it a primer for metal
• cut off the plastic parts the photo-etch replaces and sand the area flat
• try bent parts dry, as the shape can no longer be corrected once glued

The set is intended for more experienced modelers. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
