This set from Voyager Model holds photo-etched metal parts meant for detailing a model of the modern German Leopard 2A6 main battle tank in 1:35 scale. It is a basic upgrade accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The photo-etch adds fine features that cannot be rendered convincingly in injection-molded plastic — cooling grilles, covers, grab handles, sheet metal stiffeners and the small fittings of the hull and the turret.
The Leopard 2A6 is one of the upgraded versions of the German Leopard 2 main battle tank. It is marked out by a lengthened large-caliber gun barrel, add-on turret armor and a modern fire control system. It serves with the German army and with a number of others, and it is one of the most widespread Western tanks.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a cutting mat and form the bends with a photo-etch bender. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); larger areas can be fixed with epoxy. Degrease the metal surfaces and treat them with primer before spraying so that the paint holds. Washes and pigments for dust and mud effects and for bringing out rivets and gaps suit the finished model.
