AFV Club Pak 43/41 Scheunentor in 1:35 scale is a kit of the German 88 mm anti-tank gun with its characteristic large shield.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from AFV Club represents the German heavy anti-tank gun 8.8 cm Pak 43/41 of the Second World War. It got the nickname Scheunentor, meaning barn door, from its massive flat shield. The set usually combines plastic parts with higher-detail extras and allows the gun to be built in the firing as well as the travel position.
The Pak 43/41 came about as a stopgap solution in which the powerful 88mm barrel was combined with a carriage and wheels from artillery howitzers in order to speed up production. The result was a heavy but exceptionally effective anti-tank weapon able to destroy practically every Allied tank of its day at long range. It was used on all fronts in the closing stage of the war.
Give attention to the carriage, the breech and the elevation mechanism, which form the core of the model. Glue the metal and photo-etched parts, if they are part of the set, with cyanoacrylate. An airbrush and the shades of period German camouflage suit the painting. Bring out the engraving and the rivets with a dark wash, and finish the dust and mud on the wheels and the lower part of the carriage with pigments for convincing weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
