An injection-molded kit of an unusual combat vehicle that joins a 6x6 wheeled armored chassis to a rotating turret carrying a large-caliber gun. The mold captures the sloped walls of the hull, three axles with their suspension, entry doors that can be built open or closed, and the broken shape of the turret with its barrel.
The PTL-02 came about at the Chinese arms maker NORINCO as a cheaper and more mobile complement to tracked tank destroyers. Its basis is the wheeled armored chassis of the same family that the carriers and infantry fighting vehicles of the rapid reaction units are built on. The turret received a gun of 100 mm caliber derived from an established towed anti-tank gun, so the designers could lean on proven ammunition and ballistics. The vehicle is meant to destroy armored equipment, fortified positions and bunkers, it is powered by a turbocharged air-cooled diesel engine and it serves alongside the other members of the wheeled family.
Finish the chassis and the suspension before you close the hull up and fit the tires only after spraying. The long gun barrel is prone to drooping, so glue it in the position you will not turn later and let the joint cure properly. Mask the vision blocks in advance. Chinese green and brown schemes look better with the upper surfaces lightened. Deal with dust and mud using pigments, mainly behind the wheels and along the lower edge of the hull, and leave the turret rather clean.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
