About product

Pz.Kpfw.VI Tiger Ausf.E tropical form (1:35, Italeri)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Pz.Kpfw.VI Tiger Ausf.E heavy tank in the tropical (Tp) form in 1:35 scale from Italeri. The tropical version was adapted for use in a hot climate, above all with improved cooling and filtration of the intake air. The model contains decals for German vehicles used in North Africa and in Italy.

The real subject

The Tiger I (Pz.Kpfw.VI Tiger Ausf.E) was a German heavy tank of the Second World War, armed with the feared 88 mm gun derived from an anti-aircraft gun. Its heavy armor and effective gun made it one of the most feared weapons of its day, even though it was demanding to produce and unreliable. The tropical form (Tropen, abbreviated Tp) received modifications for operating in heat and dust and was used above all by the heavy tank battalions in the North African and Italian campaigns.

Building and painting tips

Glue and align the running gear with its interleaved road wheels before closing the hull. Treat the base with a primer and spray dark yellow or desert shades matching the African and Italian deployment. Bring out the engraving and the welds with washes and apply dust pigments to the lower areas and the running gear for dusty desert weathering.

Who the model is for

  • For anyone interested in German armor of the Second World War
  • For lovers of the Tiger I in desert form
  • For builders of dioramas from North Africa and Italy
  • For intermediate modelers

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
