The Sd.Kfz. 234 was a German heavy armored car of the late Second World War. It rode on an eight-wheeled chassis with drive and steering on all wheels and had a second driver's position at the rear, so it could reverse as fast as it drove forward. Power came from an air-cooled twelve-cylinder diesel engine that needed no coolant and tolerated dust and frost alike. The 234/4 version received a 7.5 cm anti-tank gun with a barrel 46 calibers long in an open-topped superstructure. That turned a fast reconnaissance car into a mobile tank killer, though one with thin armor and a crew shielded only from the front by an open-topped gun shield.

On a model with an interior it pays to reverse the usual order: build and paint the inside first and only then close up the hull. Before that, dry-fit everything to see whether it will still seat once painted, because a coat of paint can throw the fit off. Decide in advance which hatches you will leave open, otherwise the work you have done stays hidden. Glue the chassis on a flat board so that all eight wheels touch the ground. Attach the barrel and the fine parts of the superstructure last.
