The real subject

The Sd.Kfz. 11 was a German half-track tractor placed in the three-ton towing class. It mainly towed artillery weapons and carried their crews, so it was among the most ordinary vehicles behind the front, even though it did not reach the foreground of photographs as often as tanks. Its chassis became the basis for the well-known Sd.Kfz. 251 armored personnel carrier, which makes it an interesting subject for modelers who collect this family of vehicles as well.

What the set contains

Photo-etched parts of thin metal sheet for the elements that cannot be made in a matching thickness in injection-molded plastic. On a half-track vehicle these are typically the thin sheet-metal parts and the small equipment, where the difference against the base kit is visible at first glance. The composition of the parts, their placement and the kit they are cut to are given by the instructions enclosed with the set.

Building tips

Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface; do not break them out, as the sheet deforms at the joint. Make the bends on a bending tool or along a blade. For gluing, use cyanoacrylate glue in small drops; cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and spray it with a base color for metal, otherwise the shade rubs off during handling.
