The Small Carts Collection set belongs to the diorama range of the manufacturer MiniArt and is intended for 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of military equipment or a standalone vehicle model, but a group of small hand carts that serve as a prop and as a filler for a scene. The parts are injection-molded from plastic and are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
A hand cart is one of the most universal props of a diorama. It works in a city scene, at a railroad station, at a market, by a workshop and in the rear area of military equipment, and that across the period from the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries to the middle of the twentieth century. Because these are small objects, they fill the empty places between the main model and the figures well, give the scene scale and suggest a story. The carts can also be loaded with cargo from other accessory sets, which turns a mere prop into a storytelling element.
The parts are small and thin, so cut them from the sprues with a sharp knife or with nippers and sand the remains of the gates away so that the wooden edges do not get rounded. Glue with a thin cement for plastic that is drawn into the seam by capillary action. Apply a primer before painting. Wood is best built up from a darker brown base, on which the grain and the lighter worn places are suggested with a dry brush; the metal fittings and the wheel rims will stand out in a dark steel shade with a discreet sheen. Final washes and pigments on the wheels and on the lower part of the body will visually settle the cart into the terrain.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
