1:35 Soviet Cossacks

The real subject

Cossacks served in the Russian and Soviet armed forces as cavalry units with a tradition, a dress and a set of weapons of their own. Characteristic of them are the fur hat, a cloak of their own cut and the saber, which they kept even at a time when cavalry was mainly carrying out reconnaissance and rapid movement. Cossack figures are therefore recognized at once in a model scene, and they also work well beside equipment that one would not at first sight connect with them.

What the set contains

Figures of Soviet Cossacks in 1:35 scale. An adult figure works out at roughly five centimeters in it, so the relief of the cloth, the straps and the face is visible and the figures will take careful painting. They are supplied unpainted. The number of pieces and the individual poses are given on the box and in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

Separate the parts with a sharp blade and clean up the traces of manufacture with fine sandpaper, otherwise they will show through the paint. Spray the figures with a primer first, which evens out the surface and reveals the relief. In this scale faces are best built up in three steps: a base, a shadow in the recesses and a highlight on the raised areas. Cloth looks naturally matte, while leather straps and the saber scabbard will take a subtle sheen. Fix the finished figures with a matte coat and bring the sheen back only in the spots where it makes sense.

Who it is for

For modelers who build scenes with Soviet units in 1:35 scale and want figures in them, and for collectors of figures who are missing a less usual subject. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
