Responsibility details are not available.
The model captures the OT-26, the chemical or flamethrower tank of the Red Army of the 1930s. It is based on the chassis of the T-26 light tank and it is an injection-molded plastic kit in the scale that is the most common for ground vehicles. Zvezda is a Russian brand with a wide range of Soviet armor.
At the start of the 1930s the Soviet command was looking for a way to support infantry against fortified positions. The answer was the chemical tanks, in which a flamethrower took the place of part of the usual armament, with tanks of incendiary mixture stowed in the hull. The OT-26 was created by converting production T-26 tanks and was built in several batches from about 1933. It saw action at Lake Khasan, at Khalkhin Gol, in the war with Finland and in the first months of the fighting of 1941. The short reach of the weapon forced the crew to drive very close to the target, which made the vehicle an easy mark, but against bunkers it was exceptionally effective.
The running gear is decisive: fit and paint the wheels, the rollers and the tracks before you attach the fenders, or you will no longer be able to reach the underside. The thin sheet of the fenders will take a slight bend to make it look knocked about. A uniform dark green finish is typical of Soviet vehicles of the period, and it comes out best when the large surfaces are lightened and dust pigments are applied around the running gear.
The tank is unassembled and unpainted; glue and paints are obtained separately.
