An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet heavy tank KV-1 in 1:35 scale from the production of the Zvezda brand. The model offers a faithful rendering of the characteristic hull and turret of the tank and contains a choice between individual track links and rubber-band tracks, as well as several decal options. It is a manageable build, suitable even for less experienced modelers with an interest in armored vehicles.
The KV-1 (named after Kliment Voroshilov) was a Soviet heavy tank of the beginning of the Second World War. It became famous for its heavy armor, which in 1941 withstood most German antitank weapons of the day and made it a very tenacious opponent. It was armed with a gun of 76.2 mm caliber. For all its resilience it suffered from poor mobility and an unreliable transmission. The KV-1 became the basis of a whole series of Soviet heavy tanks.
Glue the parts with thin modeling cement for plastic, and fill and sand the seams where necessary. Assemble and paint the running gear and the tracks before you close up the hull. Apply a primer before painting, then spray thin coats with an airbrush; enliven the typical Soviet green with shading, edge highlighting and weathering using washes and pigments (mud and dust effects).
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
