Soviet officers at a field briefing 1:35, Special Edition is a set of plastic figures from MiniArt made to bring a diorama or a display case to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of injection-molded plastic figures in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian maker MiniArt. The figures are rendered standing at a briefing over a map, that is in a calm, static scene with no action poses. The figures come on sprues and are built exactly like a plastic kit: the parts are cut off, cleaned up and glued together. The Special Edition designation is carried in the name of this item; what the edition contains beyond the standard one is stated on the packaging of the set.
The figures are split in the usual way: torso, head, limbs and small gear separately. Nip the parts off with cutters a little away from the part and level the rest of the gate with a file or a scalpel, so that the surface relief is not lost. They are glued with liquid cement for plastic, which welds the joint. The seams at the shoulders and the waist usually need a thin layer of filler and sanding with fine abrasive paper; watch the surrounding folds of cloth while doing it. Before gluing, stand the figures dry on the base you have planned and check how their gazes and gestures relate to one another: in a figure scene that matters more than the accuracy of the individual parts.
A proven approach is to spray a base coat, lay down the basic tones of the uniform and the skin and only then work with shading. On plastic figures both layered acrylics and oil paints with a long drying time work well, the latter allowing soft transitions on cloth. It pays to paint the faces separately and in good light; small highlights in the eyes and the lips decide the overall impression. Paint the map and the small gear last so that they stay readable.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
