Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the fully tracked tractor Steyr RSO/01 in 1:35 scale from the Italian manufacturer Italeri. Besides the vehicle itself the package contains a set of figures of German soldiers and accessories for building a military diorama. The model is meant to be glued together and painted, and decals for period markings are included.
The Raupenschlepper Ost (literally tracked tractor East), factory designation Steyr RSO, was a fully tracked tractor of the Second World War built by the Steyr works in what was then annexed Austria. It was created in response to the catastrophic state of the roads on the Eastern Front: tracked running gear coped with deep mud and snow where wheeled vehicles got stuck. The vehicle had a pressed sheet-metal cab of a commercial type and a wooden cargo bed. It served for towing guns and carrying loads from ammunition to supplies and became one of the typical machines used in the Russian winter.
On tracked running gear, assemble and fine-tune the running gear and the wheels before the side parts of the body close them in, as they are harder to reach afterwards. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and stiffen the joints of the cab and the bed. A primer and an airbrush are recommended for an even base; you create the mud and dust effects on the tracks and the underside of the vehicle with washes and pigments. The soldier figures bring the whole scene to life, so pay attention to how they are seated and to their faces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
