A plastic kit of the American armored vehicle Cougar 6x6 MRAP in 1:35 scale from Meng. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Cougar belongs to the group of vehicles marked by the abbreviation MRAP, armored vehicles built above all against mines and improvised explosive devices. The basis of the crew protection is a hull shaped into a V, which deflects the blast wave away from the floor of the vehicle, and a high-set body on a heavy wheeled chassis. The glazed areas are replaced with thick armored windows, and the vehicle is easy to recognize by its tall angular silhouette.
The 6x6 version is the longer variant with three axles, which can carry a larger crew or more equipment. Vehicles of this type became a normal part of convoys and patrols of American units in Iraq and Afghanistan, where protection against a blast under the vehicle mattered more than armor against direct fire.
This is a classic polystyrene kit in 1:35 scale. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the parts are separated from the sprues and glued with modeling cement for polystyrene.
On a vehicle with so many flat surfaces it pays to spend time cleaning up the hull joints, because every unevenness shows once it is sprayed. The chassis and the lower hull are worth painting before the hull is closed. Layers of dust and mud on the wheels and in the wheel arches give the finished model credibility of scale. The wheels are worth fitting at the end; otherwise they get in the way when painting the lower surfaces.
There is no glue, paint or tooling in the package, unless stated otherwise.
