The M-ATV is an American armored vehicle of the MRAP category, that is a machine built above all against mines and improvised charges. Against the older and more cumbersome vehicles of this class it went for lower weight and better mobility off road, so that it could be used away from hard surfaces as well. The M1240A1 variant belongs to the same family. The designation M153 CROWS II then belongs to a remote controlled weapon station: the weapon is on the roof, but it is aimed and fired from the protected space inside the vehicle, so the operator does not have to be exposed.
It is an upgrade set for increasing the detail of an M-ATV model in 1:35 scale. It replaces or supplements selected parts of the assembly where the shape should be finer than the basic kit allows. The list of parts and the order of assembly are in the instructions enclosed with the set.
The added parts are fitted before the assembly is closed up, so plan the procedure in advance and try everything dry. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder away carefully so that the shape is not damaged. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. The right glue follows the material of the parts stated in the instructions: ordinary polystyrene cement works only on polystyrene, elsewhere cyanoacrylate is used.
Paints, glue and filler are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
