This is a photo-etched detail set from the brand Voyager Model, not a kit of a tank. It holds fine photo-etched grilles that replace the solid plastic covers of the engine compartment and of the cooling openings on a model of the production Soviet T-34/85 tank. The set is intended for models in 1:35 scale and gives the rear of the tank a realistic see-through, three-dimensional look. The parts are shaped for the Zvezda 3687 kit, which has to be obtained separately.
The T-34/85 was the peak wartime development of the legendary Soviet T-34 medium tank. The new turret with a gun of 85 mm caliber improved the firepower as well as the room for the crew and made the T-34/85 one of the most effective tanks of the Second World War. It was built in enormous numbers and served for a long time after the war as well.
Photo-etched grilles call for accurate and flat gluing, so that they are not wavy. Use super glue (cyanoacrylate) for bonding, applied in the smallest amount. Degrease the metal and prime it before painting, and it is a good idea to darken the space under the grilles beforehand.
This is a detail accessory set. The model of the tank itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
