Landing gear bay plugs - A-1H/J Skyraider (1:48, Omask)

This is a painting aid, not an aircraft kit. The set contains shaped flexible foam plugs that you push into the wheel (landing gear) bays before you start spraying paint on the surrounding surfaces of the model. The inside of the bays thus stays clean and free of paint runs. The set is intended for the Tamiya kit, which has to be obtained separately.

The real subject

The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was a hefty single-engine piston attack aircraft that served with both naval and land-based aviation and became famous above all during the Vietnam War. The A-1H and A-1J versions belong to the late single-seat variants. Its sturdy landing gear is worth spraying cleanly.

Use

• Push the plugs into the wheel bays before spraying paint or primer
• The foam adapts to the shape of the opening and keeps the paint from getting inside
• Once the paint has dried, simply take the plugs out; they are reusable
• They are shaped for the A-1H/J Skyraider model in 1:48 scale
