1:48 Dassault Mirage F.1 - a Pitot tube and an angle of attack sensor is a pair of turned metal probes for a model in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of turned metal probes for a model of the Dassault Mirage F.1 in 1:48 scale from the Polish manufacturer MASTER. It is an accessory that replaces the plastic parts from a kit, not an aircraft model. The base kit has to be obtained separately.
The nose probe is a prominent feature of the silhouette on this type, and in 1:48 scale it is looked at from close up. Injection-molded plastic offers a compromise here between what can be released from a mold and what should match the scale, and that compromise usually shows. Add the mold seam that has to be sanded off a round surface, and the bowing of a long thin part once it is cut from the sprue. Turned brass solves none of that, because it has none of it. The section is circular, the axis straight, the taper smooth and the surface even. And when somebody picks the model up in the future, a metal probe will take it.
Cut the plastic originals off and level the surfaces, and pre-drill the holes exactly to the diameter of the pins so that the parts sit square. Use gel super glue or epoxy for gluing, which gives you time to line them up on the axis. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and apply a thin primer for metal, otherwise the paint will peel at an ordinary touch. Fit the probes only after painting and decals. If you combine the model with photo-etched parts, you can paint both kinds of metal in one step, since the procedure with the primer is the same. Dust the finished model with a soft brush.
An accessory for a plastic kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
