A resin set of exchangeable wheels for models of the DC-3 Dakota airliner and transport (the military C-47 Skytrain version) in 1:48 scale from the Reskit brand. It is not a kit but a detail accessory that replaces the wheels from the original kit with more faithful castings with a finely worked tire tread and hub.
Resin wheels have sharper detail than injection-molded parts and are usually made with a flattened, weighted shape of the tire that imitates the tire sitting on the ground. On a large and heavy aircraft such as the DC-3 this effect is especially noticeable on the landing gear.
First wash the parts to remove any mold release agent, carefully cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Paint the tires a flat dark gray (not black), the hubs in a shade matching the subject, and pick them out with a fine removable wash.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
