A detailed open exhaust nozzle of the F100-PW-229 engine for the F-16 in 1:48 scale from Reskit. It is a resin accessory for refining a kit, not an aircraft model. It fits the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set is a detail accessory, not an aircraft model. It faithfully reproduces the open exhaust nozzle of the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-229 engine on the F-16 fighter in 1:48 scale. The parts are cast in resin with fine surface detail on the nozzle petals and the inner combustion chamber that a plastic kit does not usually capture. The nozzle is done in the fully open position, which matches a parked aircraft or maximum thrust with the afterburner lit.
The product is intended for the Tamiya kit. That is bought separately.
The F100-PW-229 engine is a more powerful variant of the proven Pratt & Whitney powerplant used by later versions of the F-16. The open nozzle with its characteristic petals is one of the most conspicuous areas of the rear of the aircraft and the one modelers notice most.
First wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, carefully cut off the casting blocks and glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand with respiratory protection. Apply a primer before painting; the metal shades and the heat staining of the nozzle come out best with an airbrush.
This is an accessory for more advanced modelers. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
