An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous German fighter Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 in its early production form in 1:48 scale from MiniArt. The Basic Kit designation means that the box contains only the plastic parts and decals, without the photo-etched parts and masks that tend to come with the premium editions. The set contains clear parts, a full engine and decals for several marking options of the JG.54 Grünherz (Green Heart) unit.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9, nicknamed the Dora, was the peak of the Fw 190 line's development. Unlike the earlier versions with a radial engine, the Dora received the liquid-cooled V12 Junkers Jumo 213, which called for lengthening both the nose and the rear fuselage and improved performance at high altitude. The aircraft was among the best German fighters of the close of the Second World War. The JG.54 Grünherz unit was among the best-known fighter formations of the Luftwaffe.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and sand the fuselage seams carefully. Because this is the Basic edition without photo-etched parts and masks, masking tape or separately purchased masks are recommended for masking the canopy frames. Apply a primer before painting; late-war German camouflage comes out best with an airbrush and soft transitions. The full engine is worth bringing out with shading and a light wash. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and seal them with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
