Eduard 1:48 Fw 190A — SPACE set, seat belts is a detail set of belts for the cockpit with three-dimensional relief and finished color that is applied like a decal. It is not a kit but an accessory — the model is bought separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is NOT a kit of an aircraft. It is a detail set from Eduard — seat belts for the cockpit of the Fw 190A in 1:48 scale from the SPACE line. The plastic model has to be bought separately.
SPACE is neither classic metal photo-etch nor a classic decal. It is a hybrid technology: 3D-printed colored elements carried on a waterslide backing, completed within the line by a pre-painted photo-etched part. The result therefore has three-dimensional relief and finished color straight from production — typically instrument panels, side panels and, here, the belts. Nothing has to be painted or assembled from tiny metal strips.
In a kit the belts are usually either missing altogether or only suggested as engraving on the seat. The usual substitute is metal photo-etch, but that has its limits: it is flat and stiff, whereas real belts have body, texture and a natural sag over the edge of the seat and over the frame. SPACE goes at it differently — the body and the color are printed into the part itself, so they are not obtained by shaping metal. The part is not immersed in water: only the backing paper under it is moistened, the part is lifted off with tweezers, settled onto the seat into a drop of PVA glue and pressed down so that it follows the shape of the seat. Do not count on it bending and sagging freely like metal photo-etch — work with it gently and let it rather take up the shape of the seat than try to force it.
The name of the set does not give the target kit. The Fw 190A in 1:48 is made by several companies and the cockpits differ between them in the shape of the seat and of the frame. Before buying, please check that the set fits your particular kit — the particular kit is not stated here, because there is no reliable evidence for it.
Work over a tray and with soft-jawed tweezers. The surface the part is settled onto should be smooth and preferably glossy — adhesion is then markedly better. It pays to fix the joint with white PVA glue; any photo-etched part in the set should be degreased and glued with super glue, never with polystyrene cement. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as they would attack the printed resin of the element. The parts are thin and small — take your time.
It is not an aircraft model but an accessory. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
