Decals from the British brand Xtradecal intended for models in 1:48 scale. The subject is the naval Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc version, that is the carrier form of the cannon-armed Hurricane. Besides the water-slide sheet, instructions with a diagram of the position of the individual elements are enclosed; the plastic kit has to be obtained separately.
At the beginning of the war the Fleet Air Arm needed to make up its carrier fighter strength quickly, and so it reached for the proven Hurricane. The naval form was given an arrestor hook, a reinforced rear fuselage and modified equipment for navigation over the sea. The cannon-armed Mk.IIc version then had enough firepower even against the long-range reconnaissance machines that guided submarines onto convoys. Sea Hurricanes escorted convoys to Murmansk and to Malta and fought over the Mediterranean.
Naval machines suffered from salt water, so the typical chipping on the leading edges and paint flaking around the crew walkways appeared on them. Apply the markings before you start on the weathering, otherwise the print will be damaged by the dry brush. Choose a semi-matte final coat, so that the airframe does not look chalky.
