An injection-molded plastic kit of the German SS-100 heavy tractor from Tamiya in 1:48 scale. The cab parts are slide-molded for an accurate fit, and the underside of the model has faithfully rendered suspension and exhaust. The set contains a driver figure and several marking options for vehicles of the army, the air force and the navy. A tow bar for coupling with other Tamiya models in the same scale is included as well.
The SS-100 was a German heavy road tractor of the Second World War, derived from a civilian Hanomag design. It was powered by a diesel engine and could tow loads of around twenty tons. It was used for towing artillery, aircraft and rockets and for recovering broken-down vehicles - a true workhorse of the German armed forces.
The cab with its slide-molded parts fits accurately; even so, paint the chassis and the cab interior first. Finish the driver figure separately and fit it only at the end. Over a single-color or camouflage base, apply fine dust and mud pigments to the wheels and the underside, and dark washes will bring out the details of the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
