The Junkers Ju 87 is a German two-seat dive bomber of the Second World War. The pilot and the rear gunner sit one behind the other under a long glazing that runs almost half the length of the fuselage, so once the model is finished the inside of the cockpit stays in view along its whole length. The B-1 and B-2 versions are production combat variants; the R-2 was created for longer-range tasks.
The set brings color interior parts printed on decal paper, which cover both crew positions. The print has relief, so the instruments and the side walls carry their own raised shape. A part is cut from the sheet, soaked for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slid off the backing paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds reliably on a gloss coat. A decal softener does not belong with it.
First spray the interior surfaces with a base color, let them cure thoroughly and cover them with a gloss coat. Cut the parts out with a sharp blade close to the edge, soak them briefly and slide them off the paper into place, then press them down with a cotton swab and soak up the excess water. With the long cockpit of the Ju 87 it pays to work from the instrument panel backwards and to keep checking that the parts do not get in the way of joining the fuselage. Mask the glazing before spraying, not after.
The set is for modelers who are building the Airfix Ju 87 in the B-1, B-2 or R-2 version and want a detailed cockpit without painting the individual dials. It will also serve anyone who builds faster and does not want to spend evenings on small details. The package contains only the decals; the model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
