1:48 P-38 F/G Lightning pre-cut masking masks from the manufacturer Reskit simplify painting the extensive glazing of the twin-boom fighter. Cut for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the manufacturer Reskit holds pre-cut masking masks for a model of the P-38 F/G Lightning in 1:48 scale. They serve for painting: the masks cover the areas that are to stay clean and are taken off once sprayed. Check that the set matches the kit you are building. The masks are cut for the Tamiya kit.
The P-38 Lightning is a twin-engine fighter with two tail booms and a central nacelle for the pilot. The F and G versions belong to the earlier batches with armament and equipment different from the later variants. The glazing of the cockpit is fairly small but divided into several areas, and to that are added the glazing and vision panels on the nacelle and the booms, so masking is more laborious than it seems at first glance.
On the Lightning it is practical to mask the glazing before you glue the canopy to the nacelle, while the part is still freely accessible from every side. Pre-cut masks also help you keep the same frame width on both sides, which with hand-stuck tape tends to be the biggest stumbling block. Spray the light shades of the lower surfaces first and the darker upper camouflage only afterward. Before you take the masks off, look at the edges against the light; small instances of creeping under are best put right by scraping with a sharp toothpick while the paint is fresh.
The set is an accessory to a kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
