A decal sheet for British aircraft in 1:48 scale, tied to the Sky shade. The extent of the sheet is given on the packaging and in the leaflet from the manufacturer.
Responsibility details are not available.
Sky is a light British shade that is one of the recognition marks of RAF aircraft of the Second World War. It was carried on the undersurfaces of fighters, on the code letters on the fuselage and on the identification bands around the rear. On a model it is a shade that shows a great deal: it is light, slightly greenish and makes a sharp break against the dark upper camouflage.
The item is classed among decals for aircraft and is meant for 1:48 scale. Which elements the sheet holds, in what number and in what size, is given on the packaging and in the leaflet from the manufacturer; which machines the sheet can be used on follows from that too. It is worth comparing this with the references for the particular aircraft you are building, because the size and the placing of British markings changed in the course of the war.
Cut the element out close to the printing and soak it in water. After a moment the film releases from the backing and can be slid into place. The surface of the model must be clear-coated to a gloss beforehand, otherwise a matte rim will appear around the decal. Once it is in place, blot the excess water off, use decal softener so that the film settles onto the edges and into the recesses, and seal the whole with varnish once it is dry. Store the sheet dry and flat, because damp does decals no good.
The model, the paints, the varnish and the decal softener are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
