A colored three-dimensional cockpit interior for the model of the Su-25 attack aircraft in 1:48 scale, prepared for the kit from Zvezda. The parts are dipped briefly in lukewarm water.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Su-25 is a Soviet single-seat attack aircraft meant for close support of ground units. It operates low over the battlefield and for that reason received an armored cockpit that protects the pilot from fire from below. The pilot's station is therefore tight and clearly laid out, so on a model with an open canopy both the instrument panel and the side panels are clearly visible.
The sheet carries three-dimensional colored parts of the interior equipment printed on decal paper. The parts have real thickness, so once applied the instrument panel, the side panels and the seat belts look three-dimensional rather than printed. The shades, the dials and the labels are printed in production.
The part is cut out close to the outline, dipped in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slid off the backing paper onto a smooth, degreased and previously painted surface. It has no adhesive layer of its own, holds most reliably on a gloss varnish, and on a busy surface a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution. Sand down any raised plastic details in the places where the parts are meant to seat. Paint the cockpit walls before you settle the parts, because afterwards they are harder to reach. Guide the parts with tweezers and press them down with a soft tool so that the printing is not rubbed off.
The set suits modelers building the Su-25 from Zvezda who want a cockpit at the level of detail sets without assembling photo-etch. The kit, paints and glue are not in the package, unless stated otherwise.
